Iowa Utility Conference

The Iowa Utility Conference was held in Clive at the LaQuinta Inn.  April 18th was the E-Board meeting with an evening hospitality room at the Inn.  On Saturday morning, the 19th, the meeting was held starting at 9:00 a.m.

Locals shared reports of negotiation struggles and accomplishments with their respective employers.  We all have similar issues that some of this discussion can help with other locals same problems.  Of course there are local and members’ problems that come up and those are brought up to help each local with advice or ideas in solving them.

Ron Garrett and Mike Kreigermeier have resigned their positions associated with the conference so two others were elected to complete their terms.  Phil Stender of Local 55 was appointed Vice-President to replace Mike.  Doug Kingsbury from Local 499 will replace Ron Garrett on the E-Board.

International Secretary/Treasurer Jon Walters is retiring and Lindell Lee will be his replacement.  Curt Henke will replace Lee for District 11 Vice-President.  The Utility Conference congratulates both men on their new appointments with the IBEW.

Henke joined members of Local 499, at their hall, for the internet "State of the Utility Locals" webcast by President Edwin Hill.  It was a great chance for a meet and greet with our new Vice President for District 11.

The next Iowa Utility Conference is June 27 & 28 at Local 499.  The joint IA/NE Utility Conference is August 22nd & 23rd with a golf outing planned.
